Before you reach out
Tax preparation questions, answered.
Know what to ask about scope, records and the work ahead.
How is the preparation fee determined?
We agree scope and fees around the returns, entities, states and records involved. Mention prior-year work or bookkeeping issues at the start so they can be considered before preparation begins.
Is ongoing tax planning included?
The engagement should identify the preparation and advisory review included. Further projections, strategy implementation or ongoing meetings need an agreed scope; discuss those needs before work starts.
Can I move from another accountant?
Tell us who handled earlier returns and what work remains open. We’ll confirm the records needed and responsibility for the current filing before work begins.
What if my bookkeeping is not ready?
Mention it when you inquire. Preparation may depend on corrected books or additional records. Any cleanup work and its fee should be agreed before that work starts.
What should I share when requesting a call?
A brief outline of your filing needs, entities, states and relevant dates is enough to begin. We’ll confirm which records are needed if we move forward.
